How do I know which vaccines are recommended for the country I’m planning to visit?

Some of the most exotic locations can be on the top of your bucket list, but planning your trip to these exciting places may include obtaining a visa for that country. Some visas require proof of vaccinations. We’ve put together a few tips to get you started.

  • For the most part, we recommend that you be up to date with routine vaccines: MMR Measles-Mumps-Rubella, Tetanus, and Flu.

  • You may be traveling to country that has a higher risk of food and bug-borne illnesses, such as malaria. The CDC website has a travel section that allows you to quickly enter your destination and get results as to what vaccines are mandatory, and which vaccines are recommended. Be sure to discuss this list with your doctor to determine which ones you may need.

  • Some travelers are at higher risk for illness. Traveling with children or if you have an immune-compromising condition, be sure to discuss your travel plans with your healthcare professional.

  •  Some vaccines can take some time to start working. Be sure to get vaccinated at least 4 to 6 weeks before you travel. This will allow the vaccine enough time to protect you prior to your travel.
